Shadowbrook Labradors is a small hobby kennel nestled amongst the vast California agricultural lands of Contra Costa county in the eastern part of the Bay Area. We are one hour North of San Francisco and one hour South of Sacramento - right in the middle.

At Shadowbrook Labradors, we strive to produce quality family companions which are healthy, sound, and stunning in looks. We currently focus on black and yellow Labrador Retrievers and occasionally breed for chocolate. Our breeding program is centered on a strong English conformation style and a typical Labrador temperament to achieve maximum trainability.

We have been involved in showing, training, and breeding dogs for over thirty-five years with eighteen of those years dedicated to the Labrador Retriever. In addition, Michael is a past apprentice instructor for Guide Dogs for the Blind, Inc. located in San Rafael, California. Kimberlee has been a veterinary health technician and surgical nurse for over 25 years specializing in animal ophthalmology, degenerative joint disease, and emergency care.

All of our breeding stock is certified for joint soundness through OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) for hips and elbows. Certification for eyes are done annually through CERF (Canine Eye Registry Foundation). Our puppies are placed with new families on AKC Limited Registrations to protect to protect their quality of life after they leave our home and to protect the integrity of the style of dog we breed and exhibit. We always recommend for health and safety you spay or neuter your pet.

It is with much pride that we microchip all of our puppies, at 5 weeks of age, with the AVID - Friend Chip . This means that every one of the puppies that leaves Shadowbrook Farms is eligible to register with AVID's PETtrac system. PETtrac is a global recovery network, which utilizes a sophisticated computerized database, dedicated to reuniting pets with their families if they are ever lost. The AVID - Friend Chip is permanent and a safe identification for life!

We are proud to state that we exclusively feed Iams dog food. Every new puppy goes to their new home with a Puppy Starter Kit which provides a wealth of information: feeding instructions and a puppy care guide. At Shadowbrook Labradors, we have found that not only our puppies, but all of our specialty winning show dogs thrive on the nutrition in Iams dog food products.

With 2 and one-half acres, many Shadowbrook family puppies return for vacation while their owners are away on holiday or business. Not only does it give us great pleasure to see our little ones grow into fine adult dogs, but it allows each puppy owner to rest at ease and gain the peace of mind that their loved one is safe until they return home from their trip.

Most every new Shadowbrook family comes to visit us prior to obtaining their new puppy. We love to have visitors come and meet our dogs and to learn more about our philosophy and the process of obtaining a puppy. During your visit, it is a good time to ask all those questions that you have been accumulating. Our daughters, Alyssa and Brynne, have much fun in assisting with the tour and showing you how our puppies are raised from birth until they go to their new homes. We are known shippers with Southwest Airlines and with Continental Airlines to accommodate fellow breeders who require immediate shipment of goods from one of our boys! In addition, should you live outside of California and wish to acquire a puppy from us, we are more than confident to ship your new family member with Delta or American Airlines.

Lastly, we are members of good standing in the San Joaquin Valley Labrador Retriever Club . An organization that is dedicated to the health, well-being, and safety of the Labrador Retriever.
